Life drawing #15

Week 15 was a funny sort of session – because for the first time ever, the model didn’t turn up! So Robin who runs the session posed clothed for a while.
I was in my element since I originally learned to draw people clothed during G.C.S.E and A level, I actually find nudes harder.

After that, one of the people that had previously modelled for us just happened to be attending as an artist, so she graciously stepped in to pose.

As with previous and subsequent weeks, the hard pastels came to the fore, and really seem to suit my varying moods where I sometimes need precision and sometimes need to block out shade quickly. With charcoal especially, you can get real movement, I was having fun creating swoops, a sort of vorticist/cubist approach.

Also did some pen drawings with watercolour, the model was quite angular so decided to focus on that after getting some of the proportions wrong on the first try, although the face was good, abstract was the way to go.

Altold it ended up being a surprisingly good session after that shaky start!
