Life Drawing #50 – Mia

It’s been a long pregnant pause between posting life drawing sessions – and here’s a pregnant model! About 7 months apparently and sometimes she had to stop a few times because she was flushed. I was mostly was experimenting with a new Stabilo pencil – all about the Stabilo here at the moment – which is called an All-in-One pencil. It’s sort of a very black Chinagraph but also ‘aquarelle’ aka water soluble. It has an interesting sort of feel especially when used in a wash…like the Stabilo Woody’s – a little goes a very long way!

Talking of Woody pencils, I did a few mixed-media drawings with Posca, ink washes and in the above case Markal Paintstiks (remember them?). Something about the drawing above – maybe the orange and gold – makes it feel like some sort of graffiti Icon. The one below and featured above includes ink and brush washes, Liquitex and FW acrylic ink that I only now use in washes, and some Molotow ink I have put in some empty markers.

Along with the Dr PH Martin Bombay Ink (which would probably be too thick for markers) the Molotow ink is what I would call proper ink, opaque or close to, bright and intense colours. Certainly not transparent and weedy like the Daler FW and Liquitex. More like Posca ink.

Lastly a watercolour which I don’t know if it belongs to this session…an experiment in my various yellows (transparent, Cadmium etc) and a quill drawing, it was left in my Tuff Box when I was documenting everything and thus I have no idea which session it comes from. It’s a sort of sequel to the Sarita #48 watercolour.
