A better session of the online portraits, getting more used to working from photos now, it’s been quite an adjustment. Some nice ranges of young and old here – especially loved drawing the ‘Old Woman’ and the ‘Young Woman…’ above. I got quite manga/cartoon with my Zebra G nib dip pen and Rorher & Klingner Scabiosa ink. And my new-ish Sailor Fude De Mannen 55 degree pen, which took an age to get here from Japan, is amazing. The Duke 209 pens are good, but not as smooth as this nib.
Another surprise was this piece of the author Edna O’Brien, a strange pensive photo, but it came out rather classically Roman, like those tomb paintings I love, or sculpture I’ve drawn. Occasionally I get the academic education I had in another life popping up 🙂
Also ‘Tear’ was an accident, a tear shaped ink blot on the paper, which actually looked like a tear tattoo.
