Portraits At The Pub 38: Lisa / Loz

Portraits at the Pub is still going strong even though I’ve been alternating it with Canela and as is traditional I am a few behind in posting them. This is the session from three weeks ago with Lisa and also a brief single pose from Loz while the model was outside. I did make her look very severe but then again she wasn’t exactly smiling….the first pieces were either the pen piece or the Lyra Crayon one. I like the lyricism and flow of that one. Swoop, swoop, swoop.

Sometimes I struggle to write anything about these works, they are what they are – sometimes I can remember exactly what I was doing, other times less so. This session went well but not brilliantly, I like the Loz portrait even though it was a quick one – 10 minutes? I think I caught him – Lisa less so. I think she’s the partner of Ian who also posed for us recently. I wasn’t happy with the pen piece above, I almost didn’t post that here. It’s not bad, although hands in the 20 mins I had to do everything came out a bit sausage-fingered. But it doesn’t spark joy.

As usual, and like with Ian it’s the paintstick piece that shines through. She was wearing quite a multicoloured top although not as bright as this – I was experimenting with layering bright colours over the top of each other to get the purply-brown-blue shades. Not sure I got there in the time but the likeness was pretty much there like in the crayon piece.
