Skratchbook - I Used To Be An Artist, Stamps, Watercolour, Charcoal, Acrylic. A4

I Used To Be An Artist

I used to do sketchbooks back in my foundation and degree days, and then after than kept about 6-7 scrapbooks which might feature here at some point. So my latest book is a mashup of the two – the Skratchbook, it’s a mix of drawing, painting and collage.

Here’s a page that has a personal meaning…yes I used to be an artist in the traditional sense, although I never stopped with digital artworks, videos and design,  some of which will feature here…but I feel I am getting back to where I stopped after my degree. Back then, at the dawn of the internet it felt like there would be never an audience for what I do.

How things have changed…mostly me. There might not be a big audience, or any, it doesn’t matter – but I feel I have to get back to painting, drawing and traditional media. It’s been too long. I am starting that process again, and already unexpected things are popping up, leaking from my subconscious. Cutting the past and present to see the future leak out, as Burroughs famously said (or something very much like that).
