Went out drawing and painting yesterday in Ham – ended up in Ham House and along the river, and Ham Common…was sketching some curious geese who came along to inspect my drawing – I think they wanted to eat my paper or pen! These were done in pen and ink which was hard because of course unlike ‘life’ drawing, geese don’t pose – they move! So you have to be quick, or wait for other geese to take a similar position.
Also sketched Old Father Thames statue by John Bacon outside Ham House – not as successful, the face was good hence the detail but proportions, well they need work. So moved to charcoal and pastel to get those down. I think I need a rematch sometime soon, because it’s a lovely statue to draw, and I refuse to be beaten!
I will post the watercolour I did as a separate post.
