Watercolour: the sequel

It seems sequels CAN be disappointing, I had real trouble with this pen and ink and watercolour of the view of the river at Ham, and over-worked it. The pen work isn’t bad, and like the river part…but the moody sky is all kinds of wrong. The paper started to come off as I was trying to fix it – not a criticism of the Flying Tiger paper, it’s 300gsm but won’t take that kind of abuse. Also there was a LOT of river traffic, which like the geese previous, had to sketch quickly and try and remember how it was for the watercolour – yes two girls in wet suits were playing in the water, and there was an inflatable boat.

Also nearly got very wet, as the tide flooded where I was, so had to abandon the bench half-way through!
