Final version - Canbury Gardens, Kingston. Pigma pen and watercolour, A3

Watercolour #6

With all the surprise February good weather (it seemed a good time to try and do some more watercolour landscapes, without freezing my arse off this time! Thanks Global Warming (we will pay for it with snow/cold snaps in March/April and ultimately in other ways, I fear).

I went down to Canbury Gardens, a bit late after my ‘breakfast’ and getting ready, and quickly did this view in a hurry as the sun was setting. I chose a plane tree as I’ve always been obsessed with the bark, the colours, the pattern. I’ve done a few this week, and this is one of the good ones.

First I did a sketch with some new Conte Pencils (I lost the last lot, annoyingly – if anyone sees a marbled pencil case tin with graphite. charcoal and Conte pencils in it, it’s mine!) but having no putty rubber, I abandoned it when I messed something up.

So attempt #2 was the usual Pigma pen and traditional watercolour, A3.
