Richmond Park, Tree

Jumping slightly forward again, this was one of the newer oils that I mentioned in the previous post – not that new, since I started it around the time of the ‘View Towards The City’ oil but didn’t finish it as I was unhappy with the first attempt (oddly I didn’t photograph the in-progress version as usual) and there was a long period in August of bad weather anyway. And yes this is part of the Dead Tree series – yes it wasn’t dead – it was only sleeping! Just this time another park this time, I’ve moved on to Richmond.

After another visit I was a lot happier with it, although not ‘happy’ it’s finished for now. I still struggle with tonality and well, making it seem ‘trunky’ and seem solid in space – although sometimes abstract is the way to go with that, like my first plein-air oil.

I like the sky though, that works well, as does the background greenery.
