Still playing catch up with the last month of work – promised to post five plein-air oils and actually never got around to posting the last two (and since there are 3 more!). Here is the view from Richmond Park towards the city I did in September – a rare one-shot, done one evening with a very stormy sky with the sun out.
Not sure the pictures really capture it as my camera and JPEGs generally tend towards contrast and not deep or soft transitions of colour. I’m quite proud of the subtle (for me!) sky which was very dramatic purples yet the sun was starting to set giving those oranges and yellows as well. I tend to go for ‘straight from the tube’ and mixing on the canvas, which tend to bright colours, but this was an exercise in being less bold and a low key tonality.
