Back to Portraits at the Pub at the Lamb and a few good ink pieces. This was despite wanting to try my new Inktense blocks which didn’t work as well because I didn’t have the range of colours for skin tones nor worked out how to represent skin tones with those sticks. Still tried to do a expressionist meets Roman funerary portrait thing below with them. I’m not joking about the Roman part, I love those ancient portraits, an inspiration of mine.

AJ (the model) was late so we did a first quick portrait with another person, didn’t catch his name.

I wasn’t going to post it but one of my friends also drawing Jonathan said it was good, so here it is. There is an economy of line idea which John commented on, which I need to work on…my work is millions of lines, as shown by the very expressionist and almost woodcut style brush pen drawing above. But it would be nice to do some more minimal pieces.

The star has to be the accurate drawing I did with the pump fineliner. Sometimes I do these to prove to others I can actually draw if I put my mind to it, and sometimes to prove to myself.
