I have been very lax in posting my portrait sessions now I have resumed them – and of course, as is traditional I have forgotten the names of the models (and Jon doesn’t go anymore so I can’t ask him!) This is from the last but one session, over a month ago – time goes so fast! As always it seems that the quicker pieces are best, everyone else wants 20+ minute poses but I’m likely to screw those up.
I tried a watercolour piece for the first time in ages – difficult to get a good colour fidelity when they have these disco lights in the pub that are always changing colour! I had to sort of guess…not bad for a guess. The first piece was below, I like the feel but it’s more like a cartoon. The contemplative ink piece above is good, has a good mood, not sure about the proportions, also not a totally great likeness!
My fave was the quickest, 10 minutes at the end so I did a quick Lyra crayon piece with wash, it weirdly feels like the most accurate drawing and has a real vibe.
