Cranes of Kingston Part 2

More cranes new and old – there seems to be five now hovering over Kingston, whereas as you can see from these older drawings from 2022 there only used to be one, then three. They are multiplying! It’s like the Tripods in construction form….Surprised I didn’t post the Woody’s drawing here, that was a good one from across the river.

And indeed I remembered drawing them from the small space near the Ram Pub – glad that hasn’t been developed as an ‘outdoor experience’ as promised yet – or at all, they’d just ruin it. But here we have the Kingston Guildhall, from the 1930’s, with lurking modern hardware to knock it all down (thankfully not in the case of the Guildhall, but who knows what other heritage they are nuking).

I liked the contrast of old chimneys and newer building, new and old in one picture. So much so, I did it again! This time with technical pen so although the watercolour kind of futzes it, it’s a lot more detailed. As always, ciick to see closer.
