Otherwise called ‘I can draw if I want to, I can leave my painting behind, cos if I don’t draw, my paintings won’t draw, and they’re no work of mine’. Yes I can draw, it depends on my mood and subject, and whether I am on a ‘back to basics’ kick or not. I think I had a gap here – I missed a session, and I don’t think Hugh was two weeks in a row, but might have been. He’s a great model, an artist in his own right and supportive of others.

I love the 1950’s style drawing/painting above, with the bleeding indian ink and almost caricature style and pastel washes of colour. Again experimenting with the new yellows.

So great drawings – pastel again, and some more accurate Posca work, and Quill and dip-pen drawings. Robin who runs the sessions really liked the work below, the dip-pen with watercolour…it looked better when it was wet to be honest, but a first to get a thumbs-up from him!

Hugh made a good suggestion about some materials I had my eye on but it confirmed that I should investigate…learn more in the next thrilling installment!
