A good session for the Negative Space series and ink drawings, but also a return of oil pastel which I’ve not used for a long time. A very manic drawing, I like the colour in this one Quill drawings are still happening but mixed with a lot of water (Rorschach series) and erased away.
More ink drawings with masking fluid – this time the whote line being very definite and almost like a white Posca, but the drawing is built around those marks rather than the other way around. Also watercolour as well. and a nice ‘pen sketch’ quick portrait which was actually in charcoal.
I have filled a Molotow empty Brush Pen with masking fluid, so I can get some quite expressive lines now – the standard pen is a 2mm rounded tip, which is a bit simplistic for my tastes (always prefer chisel tips, or flat tips, which you can at least do a thin edge line as well as the full, rounded tips it’s a bit harder to vary the line width). Having a selection of marks and width of lines really helps make the Negative Space series have more variety.
This helped with the ink, brush and masking fluid drawing at the top of the page in detail and in full below, I think I captured Connor very well (maybe made him look older!), but of course white reverse lines have a ghostly quantity to them, so looks a little bit other-worldly.
