Online Life Drawings #5

These are the last life drawings I’ll do for a while.

It’s for a variety of reasons including personal and the fact the group virtual sessions have fizzled out. That seems to be partly due to other paid sessions I cannot afford, although there is the odd free one, I am keeping my wallet tight-shut at the moment with a probable recession on the way. I am saving my money for essential art materials only til I know what’s happening with the economy.

But there’s also a feeling I have had before the lockdown that I have kind of exhausted it, not that I ever mastered it – that takes a lifetime! I think I got better and more confident with it.

Unlike the portrait sessions I rarely use the actual drawings in my work – it was for me an exercise in drawing, live creation and socialising for me, rather than some great desire to master the human body. It has informed and improved my portraiture and other drawing no-end, but other subjects call me after nearly three years.

Maybe I’ll resume it when things open up…

Also I think these pieces are great to bow out on, especially the last one I did ‘Push or Leap?’. The title references something that happened recently, and the fact that getting pushed is sometimes a catalyst for change as much as choosing to leap in a direction. You can then choose to be angry and upset, but that should fuel bigger things that leave those negative small green things in the dust. Anger is my best fuel, so thanks for ensuring I power through due to pure stubborn spite. 😛

And if there’s one thing I’ve learned in nearly five decades:
success is always the best revenge.
