When the weather was better I did this large – 70x50cm, near A1 ink and watercolour piece, in two stages in the early evening, at about 2 hours each stage. This is a sequel of the other two night garden pieces, but this one is definitely and defiantly daytime! As I’ve said before I think my detailed work suffers on Instagram, and this is one of those pieces – you need to really click and zoom or see it in person, this wasn’t made for tiny mobile phone screens and equally tiny attention spans!
This was an experiment in ‘true perspective’ – the idea of combining multiple perspectives into one painting…not sure it totally succeeds – some scale issues, but the idea wasn’t to create some architectural technically perfect drawing…and that isn’t how we see the world anyway, all that vanishing point business is actually partial fakery.
No, I wanted to keep the fluidity of line in the first night garden drawing, the line dancing *yee-haw* around the page, and keep it all very loose.
