Apologies for the lack of updates but after getting back from the Jaunt I have been scanning furiously 43 pieces of work, resting and doing other things (sorting out a dehydrator and a better warmer sleeping bag being the main two – yes even in August I was freezing a few nights, which has spurred me to get a better lighter sleeping system than my crappy Karrimor ‘3 season’ bag that’s decades old!). I’ve not stopped the artwork though, here’s the first portraits session in 6 weeks from last week.
Amazingly I seem to have only done three pieces? Not sure why, I thought I’d done more but I can only find these three, I guess we were chatting so much after being away on our holidays! Thankfully they are all good but each is very different. I was dying to try the Lyra crayons 4 weeks before but that session was cancelled so I never got the chance – I went off on Jaunt 3 the next day, So here I finally get to use them for that – and yes they work well. I did a paint stick piece, which was a bit of a redemption cos they really didn’t work on the jaunt.
I like the abstract nature of this one, very expressionist.
I also especially like the large A3 Canson drawing, although I had to crop the badly done hand/lower body at the bottom because I rushed at the end (proportions I struggle with on those poses weirdly), but the face is a good likeness, and Toni managed to amazingly keep the smile for over 20 minutes! Not many can do that…
